Some dedicated thespians established the Morrison Theatre Company in 1989 and performed in the historic Town Hall on Stone Street until 2002, when the owner of historic Foss Drug Store in Golden invited Executive/Artistic Director Rick Bernstein and his troupe to move in above the store.
"Miners Alley Playhouse" has been home for 16 productions, over two dozen musical events, 18 art gallery showings, and classes and workshops for actors of all ages. The group also collaborates with Lakewood Arts Council and Cultural Center and Red Rocks Community College among many others.
Bernstein says, "Community theater is about people coming together to share their vision, tell their stories, and entertain their audiences with so much passion for the human condition that they are willing to take a stand and be open to the scrutiny of their peers. We are grateful for our audience who are willing to take their time, spend their money, come to our space, and engage in the shared art of story telling."
Miners Alleys own Paige Lynn Larson was honored for her performance in "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden" by receiving the 2004 Denver Post Ovation Award for Best Supporting Actress.
